    St. Patty's Day 8k 2010

first race of the season. super fun.  i perhaps celebrated too much this weekend so i didn’t get the miles in this week that i was hoping too. i am slightly disappointed, but i had such a great time, i’m not wasting too much energy of being paranoid about it.  the half is less than a week away. i have worked hard and i’m going to perform however i’m going to perform.  i had planned to run to an from the race to add some miles, but decided just to enjoy the first race of the season.  and i did!

I had some pre race jitters that i normally don’t get, but i suspect it’s in anticipation of next week. so i took it as an opportunity to practice for the half.  i tried to keep an even pace, maybe grab some negative splits and not to go too hard out from the start. that’s my biggest fear for next weekend - that i’ll go to fast out the gate and end up slowing too much in the end.  it felt good to practice being in a ‘race’ situation, without the pressure of the distance.  plus i got to dress in all green, which, duh, (sham)rocks my world.
