Even though I haven’t been posting, I have been running. And reading. And feeling pretty good mentally about the whole running thing.
After I made the decision not to run next week, it made it much easier to keep up the training. I’ve run or worked out every day with gradually longer runs. This weekend we are planning on a solid 10-miler. If that goes as planned and I am feeling up to it, I will be running the half-marathon next week. My knee has been a bit twingy but I am hoping that it settles a bit over the weekend. If it is acting up, I’ll be a little more conservative about the decision.
As for the reading, I am almost finished with Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen by Christopher McDougall. It is mostly about ultra-runners, those crazy people who love running very long distances, i.e. 50, 100, more. It is a fantastic training tool in addition to a great read. I highly recommend it.
