1. Restart

    Excellent advice Anne.

Javier and I have restarted our training in the hopes of doing a half a little bit later down the road (thinking May/June). I think I misjudged how much stress the job search would entail in addition to having a myriad of house guests for most of February in addition to the snow making it challenging to run outside.

We’re starting up the training again with a push to complete the full 10 weeks this time with little to no interruptions. I am a bit disappointed in not just pushing through but a few timing things have contributed to the decision beyond the difficult month of February. With my new job, I have to be in Florida the week before the race. While on the one hand, that isn’t that bad because that is supposed to be a recovery week, with the poor February showing, I can’t afford a recovery week. In addition, a good friend’s bridal shower is the day before the race and it is 2-hours away from the city meaning a 4-hour round trip when I should be resting up and eating pasta before the big day. Usually, I would just skip the bridal shower and promise to make it up to her on the bachelorette party, but that will be in Miami and Javier and I have agreed not to make any big trips while saving money to move.

Now that Javier has actually been accepted to business school (yay!) and I have a full-time remote position, our move will for sure commence sometime in June or July. With those things in mind, I sadly confirm I will not be running the NYC half on Mar. 21st but will continue training with the plan to run the half in Newton, MA in May.
