1. 2 runs: same distance, so different

Tuesday night, set out for a 5 mile run with Kado. (Supposed to happen on Monday, but the rain kept me indoors). The run was awesome. I pushed myself the whole time, felt pretty good for most of it, and in the first time in weeks, finally had a pace on an outdoors run that i was proud of (under 10 min miles). God bless the rain that melted the ice and snow. I have a serious appreciation for rain right now. So, awesome run, great pace, nice to get out there. oh and another great part- Kado was more tired than I was. The whole race he was pretty sluggish (recovering from a 10 mile run with me and some romping in the woods with his girlfriend over the weekend). I mean, he was running behind me most of the time. Anne knows- this never happens. It was crazy. And made me feel pretty proud of myself.

Then came Wednesday. I ended up working late but was determined to get my 6 mile run in instead of waiting for the supposedly insane windstorm on Thursday. And the run was awful. I cut it short and only did 5 miles. Not proud of myself at all. Everything hurt from the beginning. I couldn’t get there mentally at all. I tried every pump up song I could think of. Nothing. Every trick in the book didn’t work. Sigh. Some runs are just like that I guess. Trying to not let it get to me and focus on my 9 miler this weekend. Oh, and Kado’s energy was back. So, Katie 1, Kado 1.

Time for some iron pumping tonight and then some rest before another niner. Goal now is to really work on my pace on these long runs. I need to step it up if I ever hope to make 10 min miles for the half.
