what a frustrating 1.5 weeks with all that snow! don’t get me wrong, i LOVE the snow. i mean i REALLY love it. and the cold air is definitely my cup of tea.  but about 5 days after my cable and internet went out, i got some serious cabin fever. i managed a 6 miler on tuesday, which felt awesome, but all the great clear sidewalks were un-awesomed by the second blizzard that joined us later that night. so, i’m glad i got out, but holy smokes, was i pissed to see the sidewalks get all wet and snowy again.  the gym was barely open and overly crowded.  still good for weights, but sucking the life out of my running legs. the legs i have been working so darn hard for! mileage way down for the second week in a row. friday i planned a 6 miler, but the sidewalks were so wet that my shoes were never going to be dry in time for trainer ben at 8am the next day. skipped for level 2 30DS. sat i did 30 min of the ET for some cardio then spent bout 45 min on my legs. phew, they were wiped! and today the sun was SHINING and the sidewalks were begging to be pounded.

i just got back from just over 10 miles. it was slow at times, still lots of snow, especially the bridges and a long stretch along the park on mass where there was no shoveled path at all, and skinny shoveled paths most of the rest of the way where passing takes some care so my pace wasn’t at a normal goal pace. but when i went out today, my only real goal was to get the long run in. and enjoy it. which i did!  after the second wait wait podcast ended and the tunes blasted into my ears, i was so jazzed. a huge burst of energy around mile 8.5 and i was singing. loudly. with a huge smile on my face. getting lots of laughs from those i passed. people were in such a great mood with the sun and weekend that it was hard not to be in a good mood out there.

oh, and i had to buy a new shuffle bc i lost my old on on my 9 miler. first casualty of the half training. buying a new one drove me nuts and it turns out the previous generation of shuffle is far superior. but after some getting used to, i’m just happy to have a shuffle back in the rotation.

i’m definitely looking forward to the sidewalks getting more and more clear and to getting back on track with my training.

ps. cable came back on friday night. wooooo HOO!
