2010 Training: Nine Times

2010 Training

bc i need to talk about everything, i'm using this space to talk about my workouts and general training experience as i train for three endurance events that are completely new to me in 2010. perhaps if i record my goings on here, my friends will not have to put up with my boring ramblings. i decided to start tracking my training for the national half and eventually for the other two endurance races i'm taking on (gulp) this year.

i also would love for roosk and anyone else who is training for the national half (or anything!) to join in. I think its great motivation to share stories and accomplishments. i know i have been inspired on more than one occasion by 'listening in' on similar discussions. so, if you'd like to join me, send a note to anne dot paterson at gmail dot com or just use the 'submit' link below.

Nine Times

Ed Rooney: So far this semester he has been absent nine times.

Katie Bueller: Nine times?

(Anne- I fully appreciate the title of your 9 miler and had I run it with you, we would have quoted the whole movie during the run and watched it after while drinking bloody marys. However, since I was on the dreadmill, I felt I should fill in my ownmovie quote. So, there you have it.)

Ok, one thing I realized about this whole half marathon thing- if it was 13.1 miles on a treadmill, there is absolutely no way I could do it. Nine miles on a treadmill was crazy hard. And long. And boring. And I just kept looking at the mileage number begging it to be higher than it was. 3 separate times I did a 2 minute pause- once to stretch and twice to refuel.

Not much to report. Psyched that 9 miles is over. Happy its out of the way so the snow weekend can be filled with snowball fights, picture taking (especially of Kado in the snow), eating, drinking, napping, movie watching, etc.

Stats: 9.08 miles, 90 minutes, 9:54 min mile pace
